- Click Order
- On the checkout page, find the Promo code field
- Enter the code and click Apply
- Make sure the discount is reflected in the total
- Complete the payment — payment methods are listed in how to pay for hosting

How a Promo Code Changes the Order Total
The discount is applied to the billing period's price before payment, not refunded to the balance after the full amount is charged.
Example:
Pro plan — $5.00/mo
Promo code for a 30% discount
Discount: $5.00 x 30% = $1.50
Total due: $5.00 - $1.50 = $3.50
If the promo code only applies to the first billing period, the next renewal will be invoiced at the plan's full price — worth factoring in when planning a budget a year ahead.
Common Mistakes When Entering a Promo Code
- An extra space before or after the code when copying it from an email
- The code was copied incompletely — the last character got cut off
- The code is meant for new clients but is being entered for renewing an existing service
- The code had already expired by the time the order was placed
- The code is single-use and was already used on another order
Promo code terms
| Type | Applies to |
|---|---|
| First order | New clients only |
| Renewal | Existing clients only |
| Universal | Any client |
| Limited | Up to N uses |
Can Two Promo Codes Be Used at Once
The order form usually accepts one promo code per order. Combining several codes, or a promo code with an affiliate discount within the same payment, is generally not supported — the exact limits for a specific promotion are stated in its terms on the promotions page.
When a Promo Code Won't Work
- If it is meant for a different type of service — for example a VPS code applied to shared hosting
- If the billing period is already partly paid and you try to apply the code retroactively to a payment already made
- If the code is entered with the wrong letter case — some promo codes are case-sensitive
What to Do if a Promo Code Doesn't Work
- Check the code character by character, preferably by copying it fresh from the source
- Check on the promotion page whether the code applies to the plan and operation type you chose
- If the code fails for no clear reason, describe the issue to support with the code and plan name — that gets it fixed faster than guessing on your own
What a Hosting Promo Code Usually Doesn't Cover
A discount on a hosting plan generally does not extend to line items billed separately from the plan itself: domain registration or renewal, third-party control panel or antivirus licenses, or paid add-ons such as a dedicated IP or extended backup. This is common industry practice, not something specific to one promotion — if you're unsure whether a particular line item is covered by your promo code's discount, check the order breakdown before paying, not after.
Promo Codes and Auto-Renewal
If a promo code only applies to the first billing period and the service has auto-renewal enabled, the next charge will go through at the plan's full price, with no discount — the system doesn't remember the code as a standing discount. Before turning on auto-renewal right after a discounted order, check how many periods your specific promo code actually covers. How auto-renewal itself works and when funds are charged is covered in automatic service renewal.
Checking the Result
- After placing the order, open the invoice and confirm the discount is shown as a separate line, not folded into the total alone
- Compare the total against a manual calculation: the plan price minus the discount percentage should match to the cent
- After one billing period, check the next invoice issued — if the discount was one-time, that amount will be full price
- Save a screenshot of the checkout page showing the discount — useful if the amount in Transaction History raises questions later
