ISPmanager 6 Business is designed for hosting providers and resellers. You can create client accounts with resource limits, issue invoices, and manage everything from a single server.
Creating a hosting plan
Settings → Packages → Create.
| Resource | Example (basic plan) |
|---|---|
| Disk space | 5 GB |
| Number of sites | 5 |
| Mailboxes | 20 |
| Databases | 10 |
| FTP accounts | 5 |
| Traffic | 100 GB/month |
A plan is a limits template, not a one-time setting: raising a quota in the plan later applies the change to every client on it. Exceptions for a single client are configured in that client's own card, not in the plan — a convenient way to grant a targeted discount without creating a new tier.
Creating a client account
Settings → Users → Create → type: User.
- Assign a hosting plan
- Set a login and password
- The client gets access to their own panel zone
White Label
Settings → Branding → upload a logo and enter a name. Clients will see your brand instead of "ISPmanager".
What you can change in branding
- The logo in the panel header
- The product name in the browser tab title
- The interface color scheme (depending on the edition)
- The text in notification emails sent to clients
Monitoring resource usage
Settings → Users → select a client → statistics: disk, traffic, number of resources.
Quotas and limits
When a quota is exceeded, the user receives a notification. You can configure the action: warning or blocking the creation of new resources.
Automating resource tracking through the API
For invoicing, providers usually don't count traffic and disk space by hand — statistics are pulled on a schedule through the ISPmanager REST API and passed to an external billing system.
# Example request for user statistics via the ISPmanager API
curl -s "https://your-server:1500/ispmgr?out=json&func=user.stat&elid=client1&auth=TOKEN"
The response contains the disk and traffic used over the period — convenient to compare against the plan's limit before automatically suspending the account or reminding the client to upgrade their plan.
Common reselling errors
| Message / symptom | What it means |
|---|---|
Quota exceeded when a client creates a new site | The client hit the disk space or site count limit in their plan |
| A client sees other clients' domains in the list | An ownership assignment error during a manual account transfer — check the "Owner" field on the domain card |
| A plan change does not apply to an already-created client | Some limits are fixed at account creation time — the quota needs to be updated manually on the user's card |
| White Label is not shown to the client | The client reached the panel by its direct IP address instead of your branded domain |
Reselling across editions: comparison
| Feature | Lite | Business | Host |
|---|---|---|---|
| Client accounts with quotas | No | Yes | Yes |
| Hosting plans | No | Yes | Yes |
| White Label | No | Yes (basic) | Yes (extended) |
| Billing integration | No | Partial | Full |
When reselling through ISPmanager is not the right fit
- You need automatic payment-to-plan linking with renewal and suspension on overdue invoices — the panel does not replace a billing system, you need an integration or a separate WHMCS-like service
- You have more than a few hundred clients and need multi-level reseller hierarchy (a reseller selling to a reseller) — ISPmanager Business does not support that depth of nesting
- You need white labeling with a full replacement of the panel domain, your own SSL, and a mobile app — that's a task for WHMCS with a separate client portal, not the panel's built-in branding
- Clients need API access with their own permissions separate from panel permissions — integration with external systems through ready-made SDKs is weaker here than on larger billing platforms
Verifying the result
After creating a hosting plan and the first client, verify that the limits actually work rather than just appearing in the interface.
# Via SSH: check the user's actual system quota
repquota -u /home
# Compare it with the limit set in the ISPmanager plan
If the system quota does not match the value in the plan, quotas are applying with a delay, or the plan was changed after the client was already created, and the values need to be synced manually through the user's card.
